Dear Friends,
Yesterday, VENTFLASH #101 was sent out with an announcement that we are offering a discount of $1,000 on our upcoming Madagascar tour, October 29-November 18, 2009, in hopes we could fill the spaces of a couple who cancelled and were under cancellation penalty. In fact, the amount of the discount we are offering is $2,000 per person. The discounted tour fee is $8,695 for these spaces in double occupancy from Antananarivo.

Madagascar is one of the world's most fascinating destinations for anyone interested in natural history. Millions of years of isolation from the African continent have produced an astonishing array of endemic flora and fauna. Eighty percent of the plants, animals, and birds found on Madagascar, the world's fourth largest island, are found nowhere else. The lemurs are the island's most famous inhabitants, but Madagascar also contains equally marvelous birds, including three endemic bird families. My favorite lemurs are the indris and sifakas, while the ground-rollers are a wonderful group of birds.
I have been fortunate in co-leading six trips to this special island and I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. On my last trip, in 2007, I was impressed with how much the infrastructure for tourism had improved.
Our Madagascar trip will be led by David Bishop. I hope you can take advantage of this great opportunity. There will be an optional Northern Madagascar extension, November 17-27, 2009, in search of the extraordinary Helmet Vanga and other localized and seldom seen birds and lemurs.
