Chris Gaskin

More Information

Chris Gaskin lives in Warkworth, to the north of Auckland, and is a "born and bred" New Zealander. He runs Kiwi Wildlife Tours and knows the birds of New Zealand intimately. After university, he worked for the government and then as a freelance wildlife artist, illustrator, and author. Chris has also worked as an exhibit designer for museums and visitor centers, including the Otago Museum's Southern Land, Southern People gallery, arguably the finest collection of New Zealand's extinct fauna in the world. Chris has been leading and organizing bird and wildlife tours for 10 years and has extensive knowledge of many of the Pacific Islands. He has been closely involved with the study of the New Zealand Storm-Petrel, a species thought to be extinct for over 100 years, and was one of the lucky observers to rediscover the species through the seabird observation program he established for northern New Zealand.
