Larry Balch
More Information
Larry Balch has had an avid interest in birds for over 40 years, and has birded all 50 states and 7 continents. As its president for six years, he oversaw the reorganization of the American Birding Association in the late 1980s. He became aware of the special nature of Attu birding in 1977, and two years later founded Attour, which organized and conducted birding trips to Attu and other areas of Alaska for the next 22 years. Now retired in Rockford, Illinois, from both teaching mathematics and "bird work," he enjoys occasional relaxing bird trips with his wife, Donna, and friends.
