Marshall Iliff, a lifelong nature lover, began birding at age 11 after attending a National Wildlife Federation Camp in the mountains of North Carolina. He attended VENT's Camp Chiricahua in 1989 and Camp Cielo/Cielito in 1991. In 1997, Marshall received a B.S. in biology from Bowdoin College. Since graduation he has been employed in various ornithological field work projects, most recently censusing birdlife from an offshore oil platform for L.S.U.'s Migration Over the Gulf Project. Marshall has served on the Maryland Records Committee and co-authored A Field List of the Birds of Maryland. His travels have taken him to all 48 contiguous states, as well as to Mexico, Greece, the Caribbean, Kenya, New Zealand, and Australia. In addition to birds, he has maintained strong interests in reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, and dragonflies, as well as pelagic fauna.
