Paul-wood

Paul Wood, from England, began birding at age seven and guiding as a teenager. He has lived in Mexico for more than 20 years, specializing in bird research and conservation in the Mayan region. He holds a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Southampton in England and an MSc in environmental science and forest biology from the State University of New York at Syracuse. He has designed and led tours throughout Mexico, as well as Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Kenya, South Africa, England, the U.S., and Spain. He is currently a freelance ornithologist specializing in research, guiding, and photography in the Yucatan Peninsula where he has resided for the last 17 years. As well as guiding a small number of tours each year, he coordinates a regional bird conservation program in collaboration with Pronatura Peninsula de Yucatan, Point Reyes Bird Observatory, TNC, the USFWS, and various Mexican government agencies.
